Massachusetts Golf League

Every week will be two-person teams playing in a Quota format vying for weekly and season-long prizes.

The cost per team to join The Massachusetts Golf League is $140 for 7 weeks. This does not include bay rental fees.

WHAT IS A QUOTA?

Unlike a Stableford or Modified Stableford event where players are simply accruing points, in Quota, players start with a point hurdle.

The objective of the game is to accumulate points on each hole based on your score relative to par. In our Quota league, players receive:

• Bogey = 1 point
• Par = 2 points
• Birdie = 4 points
• Eagle = 8 points

Note that these points are for gross pars, gross birdies, and so on.

In our 9 hole matches, the players will establish quota scores over the first three weeks of play. They will be established by averaging the points accrued in those first three matches. Winners for the first three weeks will be established in week 4. 

Every week all players’ quotas will be adjusted based on their previous round of league play. If a player does not reach their quota in a given week, their quota will be lowered by one full point. If a player exceeds their quota, their quota will be adjusted upward by half of the number of points scored over quota. For example, if a player shoots plus 6, next week the quota increases by 3. If a player exceeds their quota by an odd number, for example, 3, his 1.5 will be rounded up to the next whole number, 2. This will ensure every player has an even shot at winning.

WHAT ARE WE PLAYING FOR?

The $140 team fee will be split into two pools. $70 will go towards an end-of-the-season payout. The other $70 will go towards weekly pools at $10/week. The team with the best-combined quota total for the week will win the weekly prizes. We will take the 12 highest scores for each team from the 16 weeks to determine our end-of-season winners.

Every week, we will also offer an opportunity for players to participate in two different pools: Skins & Closest to the Pin. These are optional and will be an additional $5/each per week.

Payments for the league will be taken in person.
